A hike up the southwest slope of Storžič in Slovenia to its peak at 2132 meters high, with stunning views of the surrounding Kamnik–Savinja Alps and across the Ljubljana valley.

Parking
05:28 - 05:43 (15m1s) @ Parking pot pod StoržičemI arrive at the parking at 05:30. I can see the sky starting to light up with sunlight ever so slightly, but it is basically still dark as night. The road continues on towards the right, and a gravel road forks off towards the left. Very well hidden between them is an overgrown path up the hill, which I completely miss in the dark and I walk along the gravel path for a bit before realizing I'm off track. I turn around, reset, and get going towards Storžič.
First half up
05:43 - 07:00 (1h17m)Daylight starts coming in as I walk the first bit over the overgrown path. Pushing through the wet tall grass overhanging the path is a bit annoying, but after about 10 minutes the path gets better. An opening in the forest gives me the first view across the Ljubljana valley, which is filled with a blanket of clouds. The path is again a bit hard to follow, but another hiker came up as I was taking pictures and pointed me in the right way.

To the top
07:10 - 08:30 (1h20m)It's a steep walk all the way to the top through a gulley on the southwest slope of Storžič. A strong cold wind is blowing and I walk in the shade until I reach the ridge on my right side close to the top. From there on it's sunny, and still windy.
Storžič
08:30 - 08:50 (20m2s) @ StoržičAfter more than 3 hours of constant steep uphill hiking I reach the top. The views are stunning but first things first, I change clothes and add 2 layers to prevent the strong cold wind from getting to me. Then it's time to properly enjoy the views in all directions. Triglav to the northwest, Grintovec closer by to the southeast, and so many more things to see. There is a helpful disk on Storžič with lines pointing at and naming things in the distance.
Back to the hut
08:50 - 10:39 (1h49m)Time to head back down. I follow the exact same path back to the hut. The steep incline and loose rocks make it somewhat difficult.
Passing the hut again
10:39 - 10:57 (17m53s) @ Krničarjeva koča na planini JavornikI decide to get a bit closer to the hut but it doesn't look like there is anyone there.
Down to the parking
10:57 - 12:13 (1h15m)Again almost the same path back down, sometimes I stick to the road instead of the steeper walking trails though.
Back at the parking
12:13 - 12:26 (13m6s) @ Parking pot pod StoržičemIt was a long way back down which felt harder than the way up. The combination of the steep incline and loose rocks was tiring.
