In Sora you can park for free behind the church. Behind the parking spots is a narrow path leading up the hillside.
I followed the narrow path up the hill. It crosses the road once before winding its way up the hill, slowly getting more rocky. Once it gets up a bit higher some nice views start to show up off to the side. Just below the Hom peak are 2 steeper sections.
The path so far was somewhat on the east-side of the hill, in the shadow. I wasn't sure if I would make it to the top on time to see the sunset. The doubt really lasted until the last 50 meters or so when I could finally start to see the orange glow of the setting sun through the forest.
The path I took down was on a more western side of the hill, so I could see the sun set behind the hills in the distance as I made my way down.
This hike still had a little surprise in store. It was getting dark when I got close to the parking lot, and the candles on the graveyard next to the church were quite a spectacle to see.
