Mače Parking

I arrive at the parking area just before 6 in the morning. It's dark, too dark to take good photos. I decide to just get going and take better pictures when I return.

Up through the forest

Sunlight slowly starts to brighten things up as I make my way up the mountain side on a wide forest road followed by a mix of forest paths and narrow roads. A bit of rain comes down while I'm still in the forest, luckily it's the only rain I'll see today.

The route I planned goes to the right of the road, but it’s overgrown and soon disappears. It’s better to stay on the road, which joins that path again after about 200 meters. I've updated the route accordingly.

Behind Planinski dom na Kališču a nice path on the ridge runs towards Bašeljski vrh. A path to Storžič branches off to the left and one to Mali Grintovec to the right.

Mali Grintovec

Mali Grintovec at 1813 meters high is named after the 2558 meter high Grintovec that is visible in the distance and high on my list of peaks to visit.

To Srednji vrh

Another mountain ridge takes me from Mali Grintovec to Srednji vrh. Some ice and snow on the path proof enough of a distraction that I take a wrong turn and get an unexpected but very nice view of the path I was supposed to be on.
